still almost 2019 and i’m thinking abt how the killjoys only exist because bli lets them like…how do they get water or food in the zones? how do they have technology, electricity? honestly how do they get out of a place that has mind control technology at all??? my theory is basically just that bli needs the killjoys so that no one stirs up a revolt WITHIN battery city. if there’s an external enemy, and the (bli-run) press focuses on that, people are less likely to start questioning the system. and if they do–they know where to go! out of the city!! bli’s economy continues and they can keep people complacent
